The churchyard at the Church of St Mary the Virgin overlooks the beautiful valley of the Belchamp Brook
Just a stone’s throw from Belchamp Hall stands St Mary’s Church at Belchamp Walter. This majestic, 14th century, brick and flint church features lovingly restored stained glass windows, medieval wall paintings and a glorious peal of eight bells. It exudes an atmosphere and splendour that only great and ancient structures can- quite simply a masterpiece.
The church of St Mary is just opposite from the Hall and is available for all Romantic Catholic, Baptist, Church of England Blessings and Reform Weddings.
Walk through the pretty timbered porch, peek inside and you will find a painting of our lady St Mary the Virgin herself, which was painted in the 14th century. It was covered over at the time of the reformation and rediscovered on 1926. The church contains many other beautiful wall paintings which were discovered and conserved in the 1960’s.
The churchyard at the Church of St Mary the Virgin overlooks the beautiful valley of the Belchamp Brook, where there are some lovely walks along side the Canal Folly built by the owners of Belchamp Hall or one of the pretty footpaths winding round the Mill pond and down along the brook.
You are required to contact the Vicar directly if you are planning on having a church wedding. Please speak to Rev. Gill Morgan at firstname.lastname@example.org to book this. We do recommend contacting the Vicar at the earliest opportunity to help to ensure that they are available for your date.
